SoCalGas Named Business 2022 Partner of the Year by the Chinese-American Elected Officials Organization

Utility serves as a leader within the AAPI community

SoCalGas was recently presented with the 2022 ‘Business Partner of the Year’ award from the Chinese-American Elected Officials (CEO), a non-profit organization that focuses on civic engagement, member education and community outreach within the Chinese-American population in Los Angeles County.

“It is an honor to receive this award from the Chinese-American Elected Officials as SoCalGas continues to make large strides towards our commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve,” said Joseph Avila, at SoCalGas. “We pledge to drive positive change and address diversity and inclusion issues in the next five years within local communities. We would be happy to partner with CEO to help drive positive change within our AAPI communities throughout Los Angeles County in the future.”

SoCalGas was selected as the 2022 Business Partner of the Year for continuing to represent the organization’s vision and mission. Earlier this year, the utility partnered with our longtime partner, Little Tokyo Center, in honor of AAPI Heritage Month and donated $10,000 to the organization to assist with ongoing mental health services as part of our continued commitment to investing in our communities. SoCalGas continues to be present for the communities they serve, provides service and funds towards civic and charitable organizations within Los Angeles County, and demonstrates outstanding leadership within local communities.

“We are excited to award SoCalGas as our ‘Business Partner of the Year’. The utility continues to give generous charitable donations and volunteers their time to the AAPI community,” said Monterey Park Council Member Hans Liang, 2022-2023 President of Chinese-American Elected Officials. “SoCalGas’ service and leadership do not go unnoticed, and we look forward to working together in the future to make a positive difference in our community.”

Founded in 1997, CEO is a non-profit, membership association for current and past elected officials of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) descent. The organization's primary focus is to educate members on current issues to help position the group as a sustainable solution within the AAPI community through dialogue, advocacy and history. The organization currently has over 100 members of current and former Los Angeles County elected officials with the current Board of Directors led by Monterey Park Council Member Hans Liang.
