SoCalGas Reaches New Milestone with 25,000 Mobile Home Spaces Converted

Energy safety and service upgrades provided to thousands of residents

Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) today announced that 25,000 mobile home spaces have successfully been converted to receive new energy infrastructure systems through SoCalGas’ Mobilehome Park Utility Conversion Program. Since the program started in 2014, SoCalGas has upgraded infrastructure and enhanced safety at more than 344 mobile home communities throughout SoCalGas’ service territory. For these residents, this means receiving direct utility service, the ability to monitor their natural gas usage through advanced meter technology, and easily access energy saving and bill assistance programs. This accomplishment signifies a strong commitment to SoCalGas’ mission to build the cleanest, safest and most innovative energy infrastructure company in America.

The 25,000th space conversion under the Mobilehome Park Utility Conversion Program took place at the Starlite Mobile Estates Park in the City of Covina. “Having recently completed the utility conversion in our 250-space park with SoCalGas, the company representatives were found to be very organized, professional, and knowledgeable. The care and attention devoted to residents and their homesites, the efficiency with which the work was completed, and the teamwork and communication with management throughout the project were truly outstanding,” said Tina Valverde, Community Manager at Starlite Mobile Estates. “The benefits of this program are significant. The residents and the park operator are now the beneficiaries of an improved natural gas system that will provide safety, reliability, and quality for many years to come.”

"The Mobilehome Park Utility Conversion Program has played a crucial role in strengthening safety and reliability for thousands of mobile home residents. Achieving the notable milestone of 25,000 converted spaces demonstrates our dedication to serving the community by providing access to clean, reliable, and safe energy,” said Aaron Bell, Director of District Planning and Project Management at SoCalGas.

The Mobilehome Park Utility Conversion Program has been instrumental in facilitating the transition of aging, privately owned, master-metered systems to new, utility-owned systems at mobile home parks throughout Central and Southern California. By providing funding options, technical support, and educational resources, the program has enabled mobile home parks owners and residents to benefit from the numerous advantages of natural gas, including increased energy efficiency, reduced costs, and improved overall safety.

SoCalGas remains dedicated to the goal of promoting sustainable and efficient energy solutions and looks forward to continuing its efforts to enhance the well-being of mobile home residents and communities across Central and Southern California.
