SoCalGas is expanding its partnership with Landi Renzo USA to convert 200 new Ford F-250 service pickup trucks to run on renewable natural gas (RNG) – a renewable form of energy produced from various waste streams from dairy farms, wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and other resources. The latest Landi Renzo Eco Ready™ equipment is a California Air Resource Board-certified ultra-low emissions vehicle system, expected to reduce over 2,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) per year after the completion of this project. That’s the same as removing 1,800 passenger vehicles from our Southern California roads for one year.
Our fleet conversion project plays a large role in our recent commitment towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our operations and delivery of energy by 2045. With the addition of these 200 new net-zero emissions service trucks, nearly 40 percent of SoCalGas’ fleet will be operating on clean fuels.

RNG is an important part of California’s clean energy future and can significantly help reduce GHG emissions. Capturing RNG from various waste streams and converting it into RNG keeps GHG emissions with high global warming potential from entering the atmosphere and reduces the use of fossil fuels overall.

This fleet conversion project is expected to be complete by the end of this year and takes us one step closer to a cleaner energy future.
