SoCalGas joins Union Station Homeless Services for the 51st Annual Dinner in the Park

Volunteers and staff distribute nearly 350 prepared Thanksgiving meal supply boxes

SoCalGas joined the Union Station Homeless Services (USHS) today at their 51st annual Dinner in the Park event to provide meal supply boxes for those in need during this holiday season. Each supply box includes all the ingredients needed to create a delicious Thanksgiving meal in the comfort of their own home. Each recipient received a turkey, stuffing, corn, and more.

Dinner in the Park has been a longstanding tradition in Pasadena, providing clients with the supplies and meals to enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s Dinner in the Park is a little different. Instead of hosting one community meal at the park this year, the organization will serve approximately 3,000 Thanksgiving meals to clients through meal supply boxes, prepared meals and private residential meals for clients.

“The Dinner in the Park event withstood all the changes and hardships that came with the COVID-19. SoCalGas is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to join and support USHS on their mission to prevent and end homelessness,” said Trisha Muse, director of community relations at SoCalGas. “Many individuals and families within our community continue to experience homelessness and we’re hoping our donation of $25,000 this year will help spread some cheer and support to those in need.”

Thanks to the teamwork of our residents, community, and organizations, USHS received donations of over 350 turkeys, 375 pies, 233 dozen dinner rolls, and 1250 canned goods. In the past year, USHS has served over 4,000 individuals, sheltered over 1,000 individuals, and permanently housed nearly 1,000 individuals in need. Dinner in the Park is just one of many volunteer opportunities offered by USHS to support its mission in preventing and ending homelessness.
