Energy efficiency programs saved SoCalGas customers more than $44 million on their utility bills last year. Our customers were able to save 40 million therms of energy and lower greenhouse gas emissions by more than 211,000 metric tons. That is enough energy savings to power 100,000 homes in Southern California for one year. This reduction in greenhouse gas emissions has the environmental benefit equivalent to removing 45,000 passenger cars from the road.

SoCalGas has been an industry leader in energy efficiency for more than a decade and our programs offered the largest energy savings of any natural gas utility in the country last year. More than 1.5 million households and businesses took advantage of SoCalGas energy efficiency programs in 2020. All residential and business customers are eligible for energy efficiency rebates on hundreds of appliances and products that can conserve energy and reduce costs. SoCalGas’ energy efficiency programs have generated over $1 billion in avoided energy costs and delivered more than 219 million therms in energy savings over the last five years.
